Technical Writer/Technical Content Strategist

3-month contract (potential to extend)

Location: remote (NY/NJ preference but open to remote for right person)

The Technical Writer/Technical Content Strategist will be responsible for user documentation that accompanies the assigned software product or products.

The Technical Writer will:

  • Apply Technical Writing fundamentals to assigned documentation projects.
  • Participate as a member of an Agile product team for assigned products
  • Create high-quality product documentation based on Company’s Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process
  • Research product and terminology and apply domain knowledge to documentation
  • Scope, plan, create and test deliverables using Company’s brand standards and processes
  • Translate complex technical content into clear and concise articles
  • Identify and build accurate description of tasks and user workflows in the assigned products’ knowledge spaces; optionally, apply API documentation concepts
  • Use content authoring, delivery and measurement tools – Confluence, Jira, Google Analytics, Acrolinx, Pendo for content creation
  • Conduct content analysis and implement improvements based on feedback
  • Interview subject matter experts (SMEs) about assigned products
  • Serve as a peer editor to others’ content
  • Negotiate deliverables and apply problem solving skills to reach project decisions independently in a timely manner
  • Participate in UX meetings regarding user messaging, screen design, as well as propose and implement Progressive User Assistance and/or Context Sensitive help (CSH) as necessary
  • Collaborate with translation team on deliverables as required
  • Contribute to and be assertive in promoting CS presence through participation and presentation within TCS as well as via blogs in 3DS.
  • Participate and/or lead internal/external initiatives to completion and track implementation for self or team.


  • 5-8 years writing experience, preferably with software or online systems.
  • Clinical experience a plus


  • Bachelor degree in English, Technical Communication, Engineering or scientific discipline strongly preferred
  • A Master’s degree a plus

Communication Skills:

  • Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills (both spoken and written)
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence and open mindedness toward diversity and inclusion
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise user content

Tools & Competencies:

  • Familiarity with tools such as: Confluence, Jira, Google Analytics, Acrolinx, Pendo
  • Project Management skills a plus
  • Ability to read basic code a plus
  • Familiarity about databases, networks, and knowledge infrastructure a plus
  • Experience working in an Agile environment preferred
  • Demonstrate ability to learn new tools and processes quickly
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments under tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to adapt to rapid changes in the team or Company
  • Demonstrate good listening skills.
